Young John Lewis - A Made in Atlanta Production
Last Saturday, I saw the "MADE IN ATLANTA" World premiere Hip Hop Musical - Young John Lewis at Theatrical Outfit's Balzer Theatre. I had goosebumps from the start—this play is an intense reminder that theatre can both honor history and ignite hope for our collective future.
The show is a fusion of hip-hop energy, spoken-word poetry, and musical storytelling that brought the young congressman's formative years to life and told the story of his journey from student protester to national leader.
The hip-hop musical recounts an incredible origin story of a hero.
What makes Young John Lewis important to see is its call for us to reflect on our own legacies. It charges us to carry Lewis' torch forward and ask ourselves "How can I cause good trouble?"
If you seek a production that harmonizes artistry and activism, don't miss this energizing ode to one of America's great changemakers, icon and leader.
Go see this show before they go on tour!
